Shoso Shimbo, PhD

Ikebana Artist, Shihan (Sogetsu School of Ikebana)

 

Shoso Shimbo is a certified teacher of Ikebana who is qualified to run certificate and teaching diploma courses in Sogetsu style Ikebana. He has 20 years experience in Ikebana and studied under the late Sogetsu Head Master, Hiroshi Teshigahara, who is also known as an award wining film director (Cannes and Montreal International Film Festivals).

 

Shoso goes back to Japan every year to learn from Master teachers. He was selected by belle magazine as one of “Australia’s top floral designers” and won the Gold Award at the 2006 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show.

He has BA and MA in Eastern Philosophy, and has completed his PhD in Education. Shoso has also lectured in Japanese culture and business communication at RMIT University and runs intercultural training sessions for corporations. He is a director of JAPEP and an honorary fellow at Japanese Studies Centre, Monash University.

Shoso Shimbo is looking for sponsors for MIFGS 2009, the biggest show of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

The show runs for 5 days in April and has 125,000 visitors pass through in a typical year. Shoso's arrangement will fill a 8m by 4m space in the main hall. It will have high exposure and will be an excellent opportunity for your company to promote its products.

If you agree to become a sponsor, your company's name will be displayed in front of the arrangement for the duration of the show. It will also be possible to distribute show bags (leaflets samples etc.) supplied by your company (conditions apply). Your company's name will also appear in the program which will be inserted in the Herald Sun Newspaper. Shoso's award wining work was featured in several newspapers and TV programs.
