Shoso's logo is his own family crest. 
The crest, 
Ken Katabami means swards and Oxalis corniculata ( Creeping Woodsorrel ). 
The original design of the crest was first used in Heian period (794 - 1185).
Swards are symbol of samurai spirit and three leaves represent compassion,
 wisdom and virtue. 












 


 
 

Shoso Shimbo PhD is a certified teacher of Ikebana who is qualified to run certificate and teaching diploma courses in Sogetsu style Ikebana. He has over 20 years experience in Ikebana and studied under the late Sogetsu Head Master, Hiroshi Teshigahara, who is also known as an award wining film director.

 

Shoso was selected by belle magazine as one of “Australia’s top floral designers” and has won multiple awards including the Gold Award at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show.

 

Shoso has BA and MA in Asian Philosophy and PhD in Education. He is a director of JAPEP and an adjunct research fellow at the Japanese Studies Centre, Monash University. He is currently undertaking a Master of Fine Art (Sculpture) at the Faculty of Art & Design, Monash University.


He is also qualified as a garden designer (Japan Horticultural Society) specialising in Japanes gardens using Australian native plants.
 

His sculptural works have been featured in some of the major contemporary art exhibitions including the Lorne Sculpture and the Toyota Sculpture Exhibition. 

In 2009 Shoso exhibited his work at the Chelsea Flower Show, UK. His current works include traditional and unique contemporary wedding flowers.
